As we reflect on the past year, we are thrilled to share the incredible journey of growth, progress, and positive change that has defined Servant Forge’s impact on lives and communities.

The Hope Farm

The progress at the farm in Lodwar, Kenya has been tremendous. It has been an incredible journey of turning a barren desert into a thriving, green, vegetative farm – a true testament to innovation, resilience, and the power of sustainable farming.

This year, the farmers, in partnership with the County Government of Agriculture, were taken through an intensive training on Agricultural Practices and the importance of following processes to obtain a bountiful harvest. The project continues to directly impact over 288 farmers and over 1500 households.

The poultry project has proven to be a success in Lodwar despite the climatic conditions. We now have 2 fully stocked chicken coops with 1238 layer birds. The nutrient-rich manure they produce serves as a natural and potent fertilizer for our farm, enhancing soil fertility and promoting robust crop growth and development.

The eggs from the farm -rich in protein- have also led to improved nutrition for the community. Additionally, the operation of our poultry farm has generated employment opportunities for skilled attendants, empowering members of our community with meaningful work.

WINGS OF HOPE

The Tailoring program at the Wings of Hope Center has become a beacon of empowerment for women in the community. With a remarkable accomplishment of training over 80 women in the art of sewing, we recently marked a significant milestone with the inaugural graduation ceremony. This event was a heartening celebration of the dedication and hard work exhibited by these resilient women.

As a testament to the program’s success, the Production Department at the Center now has a team of five skilled women actively engaged in crafting high-quality clothing for sale. In a commendable effort to diversify and tap into new markets, the team has embarked on a venture to create stunning bags and purses. This innovative initiative not only showcases the talents nurtured through the program but also opens doors to a wider audience, further strengthening the economic impact of the Wings of Hope Center.

The journey from training to production marks not only a transformation in the lives of these women but also signifies the center’s commitment to sustainable development and empowerment within the community.

New Scent Rescue Center

In the heart of compassion and dedication, New Scent Center stands as a guiding light for 75 young girls who have found refuge from horrible cases of gender-based violence. Spearheaded by the nurturing guidance of the Director, Flora, the center has witnessed remarkable growth and transformation in the lives of these beautiful young girls.

We are overjoyed to share that 9 of the girls have successfully completed their high school studies, achieving exceptional results in their final examinations. Additionally, 20 girls are currently pursuing their education at the high school level, while 48 others are thriving in the primary school curriculum.

In a visionary effort to foster sustainability and empowerment, the New Scent Educational Center has been established to provide educational opportunities for these talented, bright girls. Despite being 75% complete, the school building serves as a vibrant hub for learning.

However, urgent support is needed to raise $40,000 to complete the construction, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for the girls to flourish. Your contribution will not only finalize the construction but also pave the way for income-generating activities, fostering a brighter future for these deserving young girls.

As we closed the year, the team conducted an empowerment workshop in one of the largest slum areas in the world, Dandora in partnership with the Dandora Rehabilitation Group (DADREG). This workshop focused on equipping women and girls in the community with financial skills- a focus on economic empowerment as well as a training on Gender Based Violence and how to be change makers in their community.

TRAUMA HEALING PROGRAM 2023

In the course of the year, our focus was dedicated to understanding and alleviating the profound effects of trauma, especially for the leaders and teachers residing in the Kakuma Refugee Camp who are tasked with providing care for unaccompanied minors within the camp.

In a transformative collaboration with the Trauma Healing Institute and Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, Servant Forge facilitated a comprehensive trauma healing program for the teachers and leaders recognizing that they, themselves are grappling with the aftermath of their own traumatic experiences that if not addressed may easily trickle down to the minors they care for.

In a successful implementation, we had 10 teachers from Kakuma who actively participated, sharing their experiences and undergoing a process to address and heal from their own heart wounds. The program’s story-based approach and the utilization of healing groups demonstrated remarkable effectiveness in facilitating this transformative healing journey.

In recognizing the interconnectedness of personal healing and the ability to offer genuine care, we aspire to create a ripple effect of well-being within the Kakuma Refugee Camp. Through this initiative, Servant Forge endeavors to foster a community where compassion and resilience prevail, nurturing a brighter future for those who have endured the weight of both visible and invisible burdens.
